What are the causes of sleepy eyes?

There can be many causes of eye fatigue. If you frequently perform activities that can put a strain on your eyes such as reading, driving, and writing, it can take its toll on your eyes.

Lighting. If you spend too much time looking a bright light, or if you do activities using a light source that is too dim, your eyes can get tired more quickly. As much as possible, try to go easy on your eyes and use a light that is not too bright and not too dim.

my eyes always look tiredLooking at a computer for too long. This goes for any gadget, not just for computers. If you spend too much time browsing on Facebook, or in front of the television, your eyes will also be strained. This is because your eyes need to work twice as hard when you read tiny words. Your eyes have to work double-time to focus on the small images and letters, especially in hand-held devices.

Frequency of blinking. Although blinking is mostly involuntary, if you blink less frequently, it could cause the moisture in your eyes to dry out. People tend to blink less when they are engrossed with watching their favorite television show or while looking into the screen of their phones. This can result in tired, red and itchy eyes.

If you have experienced having tired eyes, the solution is just to put some eye drops to moisten your eyes. Try to limit your screen time to around two to three hours a day. If the symptoms persist even after you have rested your eyes, talk to an eye specialist because there might be a more serious cause to your tired eyes.
