Dental Anxiety Hypnosis

Dental Anxiety Hypnosis

Using high end dental equipments from melagautoclave.com.au made it possible for most dental professionals to provide better care for patients. But despite these technological advancements, dental anxiety remains a hindrance when the dentist tries to treat patients. There are many cases wherein patients do not see their doctors due to anxiety. Even the patients who go to the doctor too aren’t completely free from anxiety.

In addition, there is also a general misconception between phobia and anxiety.  Anxiety is an unclear feeling of unease, which happens due to unnecessary anticipation. The patients feel apprehensive, have negative thoughts, and also imagine that unexpected result might come out of the dental treatment. However, dental phobia is a reaction to the known threat.

Dentists have tried for a long time to reduce anxiety in their patients through counseling and also through medication. However, to their dismay, they aren’t completely successful. A recent study shows that hypnosis works great in reducing dental anxiety.

How does dental anxiety hypnosis help?

Hypnosis is an effective means to help reduce and relieve anxiety from the patients. Hypnosis always has an edge over other means as it’s a natural and super-focused state of mind. It’s seen that during hypnosis, patients’ cognitive mind is less active and more relaxed. This allows the individual to be more open to suggestions. Hypnosis, when done by a qualified hypnotherapist, it gives the best result.

The technical proofanxiety hypnosis

The electroencephalogram (EEG) report tested on both the people who were treated without hypnosis and with hypnosis showed an astounding result. The patients who were treated without hypnosis had a graph showing extreme fear. On the contrary, the patients who were treated under the influence of hypnosis were calmer with no anxiety and fear. The graph of a patient’s brain-behavior showed that it was the psychological treatment that worked in ridding dental anxiety.

Dental anxiety hypnosis is a proven method of taking care of dental anxiety but yet it’s less used. The main reason is that to perform hypnosis, the hypnotist has to be well trained and experienced. In a few clinics, dentists have hired hypnotists to facilitate the process when treating patients. And they have become successful too. This has proved that dental anxiety is not a syndrome but only  an anticipation and it can be treated with hypnosis better than anything else.
